Disneyrewind - June 10, 1995 Pocahontas premieres to 110,000 fans in New Yorks Central Park!

Walt-stock some have termed it. It was a huge and estimated that 500,000 entered the lottery for the free tickets and 100,000 were given, the other 10,000? who knows you know how numbers are.  But at 9:30 pm June 10th 1995 Pocahontas was shown on 4 85 feet high X 120 feet long screens in this huge premiere screening on the Great Lawn of New Yorks Central Park.

The coolest thing about this is that Geiger Engineers constructed the structures and put them up in 3 days and took them down in 24 hours. The screens were created by stacking shipping containers on each other.

Pocahontas, Walt Disney Pictures 33rd animated film was the first one to be based on a real historical character. the film grossed over $300 million worldwide and the soundtrack went triple platinum. The movie won 2 Academy Awards for music.
