Disneyrewind - June 11, 1977 The Main Street Electrical Parade debuts and Walt Disney World

On June 11th 1977 The Main Street Electrical Parade premiered at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.  A night time parade the likes of which had never been done before The Main Street Electrical Parade was spectacular to say the least.

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! Walt Disney World proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination. In thousands of sparkling lights, and electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds: the Main Street Electrical Parade!"

Main Street Electrical Parade is Based off the success of Walt Disney Worlds Electrical Water Pageant a show that still runs today on the Seven Seas Lagoon.  Famous for it's use of heavy synthesised music entitled "Baroque Hoedown".  This music was recorded by Don Dorsey, famous for parades and fireworks shows all over disney, and Jack Wagner, who's voice was the main announcement voice of Disney for many years. This Parade is the most famous in that it has spawned more souvenirs then any other parades:
  • gift boxed used light bulbs
  • picture disk records
  • postcards
  • books
  • trading pins and buttons
  • you name it and they've made a souvenir

The Main Street Electrical Parade was replaced in October 1992 by Spectromagic
